Understand the calculation.
Net P&L = quantity × directional price change − entry fee − exit fee − funding paid
Calculate long and short scenarios for a linear crypto futures trade, then separate price profit from optional trading fees and funding. A fixed quantity has the same price P&L at every leverage setting.
How to use the calculator
- Enter entry and exit prices in the same quote currency. The calculator shows both long and short scenarios.
- Enter quantity in the underlying asset, such as 0.1 BTC, not the notional dollar value.
- Enable fees to set execution types and maker/taker rates. Add funding only when needed; a negative amount represents funding received.
- Read the long and short net P&L cards. Open Calculation details to inspect gross P&L, fees, and notional value.
Worked example
A 0.1 BTC long from $50,000 to $51,000 produces $100 of gross P&L. At illustrative 0.05% fees on both fills, fees total $5.05. With $2 funding paid, net P&L is $92.95. The short scenario for the same price move and cost assumptions nets a $107.05 loss. The funding amount is a scenario assumption; actual funding can differ by direction.
What this calculation assumes
- Linear contracts only. Inverse contracts use reciprocal prices and a different settlement currency.
- One entry and one exit, with entered prices representing fills. Add spread or slippage to those fill assumptions yourself.
- The entered funding amount is applied to each hypothetical scenario. Actual funding depends on direction and venue. This tool does not calculate liquidation or margin ROI.
Educational estimates, not trade recommendations. Actual fills and exchange rules can change outcomes. Money inputs use one consistent quote currency; the $ symbol is an example currency label.
Frequently asked questions
Does 10x leverage multiply profit by ten?
Only if you use it to take ten times the position. For an unchanged quantity and price move, P&L stays unchanged. Less initial margin makes the percentage return on that margin larger.
Are funding fees included?
Yes, if you enter their total in the funding field. A positive number is a cost, and a negative number is funding received. The calculator does not predict future funding rates.
Is this a liquidation calculator?
No. Liquidation depends on the exchange, margin mode, risk tier, maintenance requirements, mark price, and other positions. Use the venue's own calculations for that purpose.
